As co-founder of Johnson & Hunt Consulting and founder of Toroa, he brings global business experience and postgraduate training in Marketing, Management, and Finance. Ryan’s vision for Toroa is to drive inclusive capital markets and unlock cross-border investment through tokenised infrastructure.
Tim MacLean: Legal & Compliance Advisor
Tim is Toroa’s Legal and Compliance Advisor, leading the design of a global compliance framework. With regulatory experience at New Zealand’s FMA and the UK’s FCA, he brings deep expertise in financial services law. Tim helps Toroa navigate evolving legal landscapes across jurisdictions, ensuring regulatory alignment while fostering a culture of integrity, risk awareness, and operational readiness.
Waata Papali’i-Smith: Advisor – Iwi Relations & Carbon Strategy
Waata advises Toroa on iwi engagement, carbon markets, and kaupapa Māori-aligned investment strategies. With deep experience in indigenous enterprise, land stewardship, and environmental finance, he supports initiatives that connect tokenised capital to regenerative, sovereignty-driven outcomes. Waata plays a key role in shaping the Project Pūkete and similar projects, ensuring Māori perspectives are embedded in Toroa’s partnerships, governance, and long-term impact strategy.
Will Remor: Tokenisation & risk Advisor
Will is a blockchain and risk analytics expert at Toroa, focused on stablecoins and tokenised assets. He connects engineering teams with business objectives, ensuring solutions meet both technical and regulatory standards. With deep experience in Ethereum, DeFi, and smart contract security, he applies data science to build innovative tools. Will is also active in industry groups shaping policy for DeFi, stablecoins, and CBDCs.
Dave Ananth: Global head of business development
Dave Ananth is a legal and taxation expert with over 30 years of experience and a global network across ASEAN, the Middle East, and beyond. As Strategic Advisor for Global Expansion at Toroa, he navigates complex regulatory environments and unlocks international partnerships. Dave’s strong relationships with diplomats, investors, and business leaders help drive Toroa’s entry into emerging markets and align with its mission to reshape global on-chain finance.
Danu Abeysuriya: Advisor – Technology & AI
Danu is CTO at Toroa and Founder of Rush Digital, one of New Zealand’s leading digital engineering studios. With nearly 20 years of experience in tech innovation and entrepreneurship, he has led projects for global brands like Google, Disney, and Air New Zealand. Danu oversees technology strategy with a focus on impact-driven design, and is personally passionate about social equity, education, and using technology to uplift communities.
